COMMITMENT
The Florida Department of Transportation (Department) is committed to respecting the privacy of individuals who visit the FL511 Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS). When you visit the FL511 ATIS, we will not collect your personal information unless you choose to use the My511 service. The collection of personal information is necessary for the administration of the My511 Services.

This page sets out the Department’s privacy policy and describes why and how we collect, use and disclose personal information which you choose to provide to us on our website. This policy does not apply to anyone who is not under our control or management, such as the operators of other websites that you might link to from our website. Such operators may have their own privacy policies which might differ from ours.

COLLECTION AND CHOICE
You are under no obligation to provide any personal information to the service at any time. There is no charge for you to sign up or to use the service.

Information You Give Us:
We receive and store any information you enter during the registration process. You may choose not to provide certain information, which may result in limited access to many My511 features. We use the information you provide for purposes such as providing customized routes, responding to your requests and customizing future enhancements for you.

Automatic Information: When you browse or download information the service automatically collects limited amounts of standard information for web traffic monitoring and statistical purposes. The information is analyzed for operational trends, performance, and ways to improve our service. The service cannot identify you from this information.
Information that may be collected from a Registered and Non-Registered User includes:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of the computers being used to access our sites
  • Operating systems and the types and versions of browsers used to access our sites
  • Internet Service Providers used by visitors to our sites
  • Dates and times of site access
  • Pages visited
  • Names and sizes of files requested 

If you choose to share personal information with us - sending us a message or filling out an electronic form with personal information - we will use the information only for the purposes you authorized. Some of the information may be saved for a designated period of time to comply with Florida's archiving policies, but we will not disclose the information to third parties or other government agencies, unless required to do so by state or federal law. If we are required to disclose information about you by law, we will make every effort to notify you of the disclosure in advance.

Under Florida law, e-mail addresses are public records. If you do not want your e-mail address released in response to a public-records request, do not send electronic mail to this entity. Instead, contact this office by phone or in writing.
 
We make no attempt to link this information with the identity of individuals visiting our sites.

USE AND DISCLOSURE
We use the personal information we collect to improve our Services and provide you with a personalized experience through the FL511 ATIS.
 
If you choose to sign up for My511 Services, we will keep track only of the information and preferences that you choose to provide to us. FL511’s vendor will store the information securely on their system and will not release it to any third party without your prior consent unless required by law. You will be asked to create a user name and a password which will be required  to access your personal information on all visits to the website.

Any personal information you give us will be used only for the purpose of administering My511 Services and conducting site evaluation including the use of surveys or questionnaires by the Department or Department partners. You will not be placed on any mailing lists. No personal information will be shared, rented, sold, or otherwise released to any third party, without your consent.

RETENTION
The personal information that you provide will be retained by FL511 ATIS for as long as necessary to fulfil the administration of My511 Services. If you delete your My511 account, FL511 ATIS will no longer retain your information.

COOKIES, ANALYTICS AND LOCATION SERVICES

Cookies
The FL511 ATIS website uses cookies. A cookie is a small text file sent from a Web server and placed on your computer's hard drive. A cookie is generally used to enhance your browsing experience. You can choose to set your browser to detect and reject cookies, to accept cookies from all sites, or to prompt you whenever a site wants to send you a cookie. Check your browser's "Help" files to learn how to do this. If you choose to refuse cookies, you may not be able to access some of the interactive features on our website. Cookies used by FL511 do not give us access to anything on your hard drive and cannot do anything to your device.

Web Analytics
To serve you better, we use Google Analytics to help analyze the use of FL511 ATIS website. These tools use cookies to collect and generate information about your visits to the site (including your IP address) that is transmitted to the servers in an anonymous form for processing. We study patterns of website activity in order to improve the experience of visitors to our sites. The use of these tools does not allow the service to identify individuals. You can opt-out of analytics activity by setting your browser to notify you when a cookie is sent and block analytics cookies if desired. Please consult your browser's Help Menu for instructions.

Google Location Services
This service is used to identify start and end points while determining route information. You maintain control of location services by controlling your browser and mobile settings. At no time does the FL511 mobile app collect or store active route information. Please refer to the Google Privacy Policy for further information on this service.

ACCESS AND CORRECTION
FL511 ATIS website provides the ability for registered users to correct and/or delete their own information online through the Manage Account tool within My511 Services. Individuals also have a right to access their personal information that is held within the FL511 ATIS system.

PRIVACY POLICY CHANGES
We will use personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy in effect at the time the information was collected. If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will post a notice on our website so that you can view it. If at some point we consider using your personal information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will first ask for your consent.

Conditions/Disclaimer

My Florida 511 allows its users to sign up via the My Florida 511 website and to create a user account. My Florida 511 provides users with access to traveler information (the “information”) through the My Florida 511 Website and Personalized Email, and Text Message Alerts. By visiting the My Florida 511 Website, you agree that you will not use the site for any unlawful activity. As a consideration of your use of the Service, you agree to: (a) provide true, accurate, and current information and (b) maintain and promptly update account data to keep it true, accurate, current, and complete.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) does not guarantee the reliability, accuracy, quality, timeliness, usefulness, adequacy, completeness or suitability of the Information. You should not assume that your use of the MyFlorida 511 service (the “Service”) will be error free or that the Service will operate without interruption.

You assume all risk arising from your use of the Service, and/or use of the Information retrieved from or sent to you from the Service. FDOT and its licensors shall not be responsible or otherwise liable for any claim, expense, damage, loss, liability, obligation, demand or action, regardless of the nature of the cause of the claim, demand or action, for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential, exemplary, punitive or any other damages arising out of or in connection with the use of or inability to use the Information or the Service, or in reliance on the Information, including any loss of use, lost data, lost business profits, business interruption, personal injury, or any other financial loss, even if FDOT, its contractors, licensors or agents have been informed of the possibility of such loss.

The mention of another agency or entity in relation to any Information, or to the Service, does not constitute an endorsement, sponsorship or recommendation of that entity or its product or service.

The use of the Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of Florida, excluding its conflicts of law rules. Through the use of the Service you expressly agree that the exclusive jurisdiction for any claim or action arising out of or relating to the use of the Site or Services shall be filed only in the state or federal courts located in the state of Florida.

The Information provided through the Service and all rights to it are owned by the FDOT. Content available through the Service is for individual use only and is not available for re-sale or re-use without the express written consent of FDOT. Upon registration, users of the Service are granted non-exclusive, non-transferable limited license to access and use the Information for personal purposes only (and specifically excluding any commercial use).
